I don’t understand.

There are so many things I don’t understand, and so few people I can safely talk to about them. So here I am, hoping to find the others I know who feel the same way, or even those who are confidently on one side or the other than can have a civil discussion about things that are going on.

I don’t understand the vileness and elitism towards those who have different opinions or have been expelled.
I don’t understand the turning a blind eye to events and refusing to even discuss the possibility that one side or the other, or both, could be wrong.
And there are many more things like these.

This Church used to be about the brotherhood. When someone was growing weak, when someone didn’t understand, when someone was confused, then we reached out to them, we tried to help them, but now it seems like we just give them an ultimatum to fall in line or get expelled.

What happened to love for the brotherhood? Why do we just expel brethren now and justify that we still love the brethren, and it is okay to be vile to those expelled because they are no longer members? Whatever happened to leaving the 99 sheep to go find the one lost sheep?

And it’s not one side I don’t understand. Those who disagree with what is going on that are suggesting brethren withhold their offering. Don’t we have an obligation to God to give offerings to Him? To give what is in our heart’s to give, but still to give. Yes you might feel the administration is misusing the offerings, but our offerings are not for them, our offerings are for God.

I don’t care if you agree with me or disagree with me, I just hope you can be civil enough to discuss it.

  1. It’s sad that we have to turn to this forum as a necessity to have these types of discussions. I remember a time when it was common to have open and honest conversations of this type with our ministers and locale leaders. This is no longer the case… unfortunately.

I am eager for the day when those lines of live communication at ground level within our locales is not only possible, but encouraged — and without fear of reprisal.

    Until that day… Let’s chat.
